50 years of our Basketball
BRIŠČIKI – On the 11th of January was organized a celebration to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of organized basketball movement of Slovenes in Italy. It was a great opportunity to present the book “50 years of our basketball”, edited by Branko Lakovič and written by Branko Lakovič, Niko Štokelj and Veronika Sossa with the translations in Italian language ensured by Sergio Tavčar and Albert Voncina. On the same day it was presented also the wall of fame in the gym at Rouna with the pictures of 13 important people for our basketball: Drago Gantar, Egon Kraus, Renato Štokelj, Vili Prinčič Adriano Sossi, Mario Mari, Stojan Kafol, Peter Starc, Peter Brumen, Branko Lakovic, Sergio Tavčar, Marko Ban and Boris Vitez.
Renato Štokelj received the Bloudkova Plaketa
BRDO PRI KRANJU – Renato Štokelj received on the 15th of February this year’s Bloudkova Plaketa, the highest award for sportsmen, sportswomen and sports workers in Slovenia. The former president of KK Bor received the award from the former Olympic champion and member of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia Miro Cerar.
Football: Vesna’s Historic Success
KRIŽ – With the qualification to the round of 16 of the Italian Cup Vesna reached a historic success for our football movement.
European Bronze Medal for Jaš and Simon
SESLJAN – The sailors Jaš Farneti and Simon Sivitz Košuta (Y.C. Čupa) won the bronze medal at the European Championship in the 470 class.
Jernej Terpin Slovenian National Champion
LJUBLJANA – Our volleyball player Jernej Terpin won on the 3rd of May with his team (ACH Volley from Ljubljana) the national title.
Zlati let: Best Sportsmen
TRŽIČ – On the 12th of July took place the prize giving ceremony “Zlati let”, organized by the Primorski dnevnik and the ZSŠDI. The winners are: Borut Ban (basketball), Aleksander Daneu (youth basketball), Edvin Carli (football), David Colja (youth football), Vasilij Kante (volleyball), Simon Komjanc (youth volleyball), Tania Babudri (volleyball – women), Veronika Feri (youth volleyball – women). Among teams: ŠK Kras (Table tennis), Kras (youth football). Best coach: Matija Spinazzola. Noborders: Dušan Michalka and Gregor Jerončič. Mladi upi: Meta Sterni. International success: Katrin Don. ZSŠDI Awards: Eligio Kante, David Štrajn and Robert Uršič.
Tea Ugrin won’t attend Olympics
Our gymnast Tea Ugrin won’t go to the Olympics in Rio due to injury.
Preparation for new Season
In August, most of our teams began to prepare for the new season, among them also the tennis table players of Kras, who will play in the A1-league.
Cycling Marathon Ljubljana – Trst
LJUBLJANA – LONJER – Cycling club Adria in collaboration with KK Rog Ljubljana, Bora Multisport Trieste and ZSŠDI organized on Sunday 4th of September the 23rd traditional non competitive cycling marathon Ljubljana – Trst, attended by almost 250 amateur cyclists.
40 Years of Jadran
BRIŠČIKI – In a crowded gym Ervatti was organized a celebration to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of ŠZ Jadran.
Šport in Šola
SOVODNJE – 36 students were awarded for their sports and educational achievements with the Šport in Šola (Sports and School) prize at the Kulturni dom in Sovodnje.
BOLJUNEC – The best athletes of the Primorska were announced on Tuesday, 27th December, in a crowded theater France Prešeren in Boljunec. The “Naš športnik” ceremony is organized by Primorski dnevnik, Slovenian regional RAI TV and Radio, our website slosport.org, TV and Radio Koper and Primorske novice. The best athletes of 2016 are: a) among men: 1. Vasilij Žbogar, 2. Sašo Taljat and Luka Božič, 3. Bojan Tokić, 4. Dean Bombač, 5. Mitja Gasparini, 6. Jaš Farneti and Simon Sivitz Košuta; b) among women: 1. Špela Ponomarenko Janić, 2. Tina Mrak and Veronika Macarol, 3. Urša Kragelj, 4. Andreja Klepač, 5. Tanja Žakelj, 6.
